Light drizzle greets people of Delhi this morning

A light drizzle greeted the people of Delhi this morning which has been experiencing dense fog in the past few days. The shallow fog coupled with light rain helped smoothen road, rail and air traffic which has been badly affected in the past three days. According to officials at Indira Gandhi Airport flight operations remained unaffected with no diversions or cancellations though there was fog at the airport and runway visibility was low. About 300 flights have been affected due to fog in the past three days. Clear weather also eased train movement with no trains being cancelled due to fog this morning. Northern railway Spokesperson however told AIR that 25 trains are running late due to backlog and five others have been rescheduled. The mercury also increased marginally. The minimum settled at 7.4 degrees up from yesterday's 6.1. Although the maximum was a degree below normal at 21 degree Celsius, it was almost two notches above the previous day's 18.8 degree Celsius. The Met department predicts the skies to remain mainly clear with shallow fog in the next two days. However dense fog may engulf the city during the New Year.
