The Natinal Investigation Agency, NIA court in Kochi today sentenced Thadiyantevida Nasir and Shafaz to life imprisonment in connection with the Kozhikkode twin blast case. The court also imposed a fine of rupees one lakh each on the accused. The duo was found guilty by the NIA Special court on Thursday in the case. The case relates to the blasts that took place at the Kerala State Road Transport bus stand and the moffusil bus stand at Kozhikkode on March 3, 2006. The blast was in protest against a court turning down the bail applications of those arrested in connection with the Maraad violence in 2003. This is the first case taken up by the NIA in the country which resulted in the conviction of the accused.
