The special CBI Court at Ghaziabad has sentenced dentists couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar to life for murdering their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj in 2008.

The court has also sentenced both for five years imprisonment for conspiracy and destroying evidence in the case. They have been slapped fine of 17 thousand rupees each by the court.

Earlier, CBI counsel R K Saini pressed for maximum punishment of death for the dentist couple. They were convicted of killing their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj five-and-a-half years ago. Arguing before Additional Session Judge Shyam Lal the CBI submitted that the killing was a cold-blooded murder and fell in the rarest of rare category.

Yesterday, the court convicted the couple in the murder of their 14-year-old daughter Aarushi and 45-year-old Hemraj. The case was awash with allegations of goof-ups, flip-flops and media bias.
