Life limping back to normal in Leh after cloudburst

Life is limping back to normal in Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir after heavy floods caused by cloudburst last Friday. People have started coming back to their homes. They have started removing debris from their homes. Leh market is lively with people starting business. Mass prayers are being held at the flood affected sites for the early recovery of injured persons and peace for the those killed in the floods.Meanwhile, with the support of army, ITBP and CRPF, the district administration is working on a war footing to restore the roads and providing relief to affected people. Indian Air Force rescued 81 foreigners and 9 tour guides from Zanskar Valley yesterday. According to the latest information, the death toll in Friday's cloudburst has risen to 165 and 400 people are still missing. Officials said that 200 people, including foreigners, are still stranded at various places in the affected area. Sniffer dogs have been pressed into service to look for survivors. Security forces are taking the help of heavy duty bulldozers and other machines to clear the rubble.
