Life in Telangana region continues to be affected by strike

In Andhra Pradesh, normal life in Telangana region continued to be affected by the ongoing strike for separate statehood which has also impacted the Durga Pooja festivities in the state. Commuters in the region are facing severe problems due to mad rush at the railway stations during the festival season. The common people are forced to travel on the tops of trucks and private vehicles as the Road Transport Corporation buses remain off the roads.Meanwhile, the Agriculture officials have estimated that the crop in about 10 lakh acres out of a total 77 lakh acres sown in the present khariff season has withered away due to unprecedented power cuts caused by the Coal Mine workers strike.Stray incidents such as burning and pelting of stones at private buses plying between Coastal Andhra and Hyderabad have been reported. AIR correspondent reports, police have arrested 129 persons in 36 cases with respect to the blockade of National Highway number 9 on Tuesday.
