Manipur is reeling under acute shortage of essential commodities following the indefinite economic blockade along the two life-lines- the Imphal-Dimapur and the Imphal-Jiribam National Highways.

The Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee, SHDDC suspended its economic blockade after 93 days on the 31st of the last month. However, the United Naga Council refuses to call off its blockade demanding an alternative arrangement for the Nagas in Manipur. The blockade has caused immense hardship in the life of common men.
