<br/>Ending the latest attempt by activists to break Israel's Gaza blockade, a Libyan chartered ship loaded with aid supplies has docked in an Egyptian port. According to Israeli media Haaretz, Israeli missile ships had been shadowing the ship to ensure that it would not reach Gaza. The ship – named the "Amalthia" with 12 crew and 15 activists and supporters on board is carrying 2,000 tons of humanitarian aid supplied by the Gadhafi International Charity and Development Association. The charity is headed by the son of the Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi, Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi. A similar effort of a flotilla on 31st May this year resulted Israeli navy raid in which 9 Turkish activists were killed. Following international pressure after the incident, Israel eased the terms of the land blockade on the territory, but the naval blockade has so far remained in place. Israel imposed the blockade on Gaza citing security reasons, following the Hamas takeover of the Gaza Strip in 2007.
