The Libyan army has told people in Benghazi to lay down their arms as pro-Gaddafi forces kill at least five people in attacks on the rebel-held city of Misrata. Gaddafi troops are advancing closer to the rebel stronghold Benghazi. This could be a decisive battle in the uprising against Moamar Gaddafi. A local doctor said, Gaddafi forces attacked Misrata on Wednesday killing at least five people and wounding 10. The leader's son Saif al-Islam warned that everything will be over in 48 hours. Rebel fighters in the city, about 200 km east of Tripoli, have been preparing for an attack for days and say they will stand and fight, despite being outgunned. Rebels said, very heavy bombardments are taking place now from three sides. The town of Ajbadiyah, 150 km south of Benghazi on the Gulf of Sirte, was firmly in government hands after most of its rebel defenders retreated under fire from a withering artillery barrage yesterday. However, media reports say, the Libyan rebels have denied claims that pro-Gaddafi forces have taken Ajdabiya.
