The Netherlands' oldest institution of higher learning– Leiden University– will now have a long-term Chair for the study of contemporary India.<br/> An MoU in this regard between Indian Council for<br/>Cultural Relations and Leiden University was signed by Indian Ambassador to Netherlands Manbir Singh and P F Van Der Heijden, Rector Magnificus and President on behalf of the University.<br/> Under the pact, ICCR in consultation with the<br/>University shall appoint a suitable Indian academician to hold the Chair for a period of two years.<br/> The Chair would commence from September 2011 and the MoU would remain valid for five years.<br/> During the term, the Chair would contribute to the academic life of the University by engaging in teaching, research and mentoring at various levels.<br/>
