Leh: Kharu women's team wins 2nd LG Ice Hockey Championship for 2022

In Ice Hockey Championship for 2022 at Leh. Kharu women's team won the 2nd Lieutenant Governor cup. In an exciting final match, Kharu beat Lalok women in the penalty shoot out by 1:0 goals to lift the second title this season.

In the scheduled time both teams stood equal by scoring One goal each. However, it was Lalok who showed dominance from the word go. As the puck dropped to start play, Lalok scored the first goal in a couple of minutes. It took two periods for Kharu to score the leveller in the third period of the game. But both the teams made several attacks on opponent goal posts but, goalies are swift to save the attacks.

As the goals are levelled in the scheduled time by one each, a 15 minute overtime is also played but without any goal. As the scores are still tied, the penalty shootout is played to decide the winner.

Both teams could not score a goal in their respective first two attempts of a penalty shoot out. In the third, Kharu scored a goal with a swift move from the middle. When Lalok fans were looking for a leveller, the Kharu goalie stopped the puck in the final shot from Lalok.

UT Ladakh Secretaries Padma Angmo and Ravinder Kumar gave away individual and best goalie and best player of the tournament prizes to the winners.

Wednesday, arch-rivals in Ladakh Ice Hockey the Ladakh Scouts and ITBP play for the Men's championship in NDS Indoor Ice Hockey rink in Leh.
