Leh District Tuberculosis officer appeals for community support to tuberculosis patients

Leh District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Iqbal Ahmed appealed for community support to the tuberculosis patients in the district. Briefing the media, Dr Iqbal said community participation helps in creating awareness and removing stigma attached to the disease.<br />'' <br />'' He said that the corporate houses, institutes, organizations and even the individuals can lend a helping hand for the welfare of patients.<br />'' <br />'' Dr Iqbal said, the Union Territory Administration and Leh Hill Council are providing costly screening, diagnosis and medication for free to the TB patients.<br />'' <br />''He also said the patient gets Five hundred rupees monthly for the diet. He said, twelve persons per one lakh screening are found TB patients in Leh district against 36 of country's average.
