In Leh, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Sachin Kumar Vaishya flagged off a Fit India Freedom Run today. The run was organized by the District Youth Services and Sports Department.

Fit India Freedom Run is part of Fit India Movement organized marking the Independence Day and to mark the  150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with a motto to keep countrymen fit to build New India. Today, the 29th August is also celebrated as the  National Sports Day, to honour the  'Wizard of Hockey', Major Dhyan Chand. The concept of Freedom Run is also to express the most raw form of freedom a human being has.

In Leh, along with District senior officials Everest climbers Tsering Angmo and Rigzin Dolkar and famous athletes Tsetan Dolkar and winners of Ladakh Marathon and runners represented Ladakh in various marathons of the country, also participated in the Fit India Freedom Run. The Run is organised while following the Covid-19 SOPs of the district.
