Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav is all set to be the New Chief Minister Of Uttar Pradesh. He was formally elected leader of the legislative party in a meeting of party's parliamentary board. He will meet governor to stake claim for formation of new government in the state. Meeting of parliamentary board of the party held today at Lucknow. The Samajwadi party which stormed to power in the state has won 224 seats.
Hectic political activity is on for government formation in Uttrakhand. Both Congress and BJP Legislature Parties are meeting in Dehradun this afternoon to elect their leaders. AIR correspondent adds since both the parties are short of absolute majority, efforts are on to woo the Members of other parties. The Congress has emerged as a single largest party with 32 Members and the BJP in close race with 31 seats in the 70 member house.
In Goa, the Legislature Party Leader of BJP is being elected in Panji this afternoon. All newly elected members of the party have been called to attend the meeting. The Party in alliance with MJP won 24 seats in the 40 Member House.
In Punjab the Leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal,SAD and BJP combine is being held this afternoon to elect the leader. The new Members of SAD are meeting this afternoon to elect their leader. SAD leadership has made it clear that it will form the government after discussions with its alliance partner BJP.
In Manipur the leader of the Legislature Party will be elected after the central observer recruited by High Command complete their consultation with the newly elected Members. The Congress Party has won 42 seats in the 60 Member House.
