Minority Affairs Minister K. Rahman Khan has expressed concern over the encroachment of Waqf lands. He said, with a view to remove encroachment and retrieve large waqf properties, government is in the process of bringing out a legislation called the Waqf Property (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act. Mr Khan was addressing the State Ministers in-charge of Waqf and Chairpersons of Waqf boards during the National conference on implementation of Waqf Amendment Act, 2013 in New Delhi today.

He said, the proposed law would prevent encroachment of the waqf properties and facilitate its better management so that the income generated through these properties could be utilized for the benefit of the community.
