Legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra cremated in Mumbai

Legendary filmmaker, Yash Chopra, also known as the ‘king of romance’, who succumbed to dengue and multiple organ failure on Sunday evening, has been cremated. The last rites took place at Vile Parle’s pawan hans crematorium. The who’s who of the Bollywood, who participated in the funeral procession bid adieu to the legendary film maker with moist eyes and prayers on their lips. VS Kundu Director General of films division and Nina Lath Gupta, Managing Director, NFDC attended the funeral of the film maker on behalf of the Information and Broadcasting ministry. Earlier, a remarkable number of people gathered outside the Yash Raj Studios to catch the final glimpse of the Bollywood trendsetter. Chopra was admitted to the Lilavati hospital on October 13 and was reportedly recovering from an illness. Chopra passed away on Sunday due to dengue and multiple organ failure.

The thespian had turned 80 on September 27 this year and was busy preparing for the release of his last directorial venture ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.’Waqt’, ‘Daag’, ‘Kabhi Kabhie’, ‘Trishul’, ‘Silsila’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Lamhe’, ‘Darr’, ‘Veer Zaara’ are some of his works that created ripples in the industry.
