CPIM General Secretary Prakash Karat announced that his party will contest 30 out of 243 assembly seats in Bihar in an alliance with other left parties-CPI and CPI( ML). The left parties will collectively contest 200 seats. Mr. Karat said a decision to the effect was taken by the state committee of the party at a meeting in Patna. He said the details of the constituencies and candidates will be announced after consultations with other left parties. Mr. Karat also said that there will be no alliance with Rashtriya Janata Dal and Lok Jan Shakti combined.
