Left parties demand probe into coal allocation

The Left parties today demanded a thorough probe into the allocation of coal blocks in the country. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr Sitaram Yechuri of the CPIM said that the Prime Minister's statement in both the Houses of Parliament is distortion of facts and defensive.

Mr Gurudas Dasgupta of the CPI also criticized the Prime Minister for attacking the CAG, which is a Constitutional body. He said this is unworthy of Dr Manmohan Singh. Mr Dasgupta also demanded a judicial enquiry by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.

Mr Barun Mukherjee of the Forward Block and Mr N. Nageswara Rao of the Telugu Desam Party also criticized the Prime Minister's statement and advocated for a threadbare discussion in Parliament on the issue.
