Lebanese-Israeli forces exchange firing

There are reports of exchange of fire between Lebanese and Israeli troops injuring one Lebanese soldier. Reports quoting a senior Lebanese army officer says clash occurred in the border town of Aadassi as Israeli troops tried to remove a tree from the Lebanese side of the border. He says an Israeli tank fired a shell that hit a house in the village after the gunfire.Lebanese President Michel Suleiman has condemned the Israeli action and asked his troops to follow UN resolution on any border violation. Israeli television quoting Army has said that Israeli troops have not crossed Lebanese territory. The border between both countries has been relatively quite since the summer 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war that left 1,200 Lebanese and about 160 Israelis dead. 12,000 members of United Nations peacekeeping force, UNIFIL, is also deployed in the area. Today’s clash follows rocket attacks yesterday on the southern Israeli city of Eilat and neighbouring Aqaba in Jordan, in which a Jordanian citizen was killed and five others were injured.
