Leather industry from India and International business leaders will showcase their products at the India International Leather Fair beginning at Chennai on Sunday. Union Textile Minister Dayanidhi Maran will inaugurate the four day event. 172 representatives from 24 countries will be participating.<br/><br/>Briefing newsmen in Chennai today, the Chairman and Managing Director of India Trade Promotion Organization, Dr Subas Pani said the Indian leather industry had weathered the economic recession due to robust domestic sales. He said the industry has been witnessing positive growth in the last few months because of global recovery.<br/><br/>Stating that the Indian leather industry has become one of the top ten foreign exchange earners for the country Dr Subas Pani said India is now a reliable supplier of high quality value added leather and leather products.<br/><br/>The leather fair will showcase a wide variety of leather products including finished leather, shoes, garments, fashion accessories besides chemicals, machinery and equipments manufactured in several countries.
