<span style="color: #222222;">Prominent leaders from Ladakh have appealed the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda, to consider declaring the region as Tribal area. <br />''<br />''Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal in his representation to the Minister Arjun Munda has stated that Ladakh is a predominantly tribal area with 98 per cent population of tribals. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">He brought to the notice of the minister different problems being faced by the local people including the harsh climatic conditions, fragile ecology and dependency on glacier waters for agriculture. <br />''<br />''He appealed for Inclusion of the Ladakh region as the tribal area under Article 244 of  Constitution to bring the Ladakh region under provisions of Sixth Schedule.<br />'' <br />'' Similarly, Chairman J&K Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali, Councilor LAHDC Kargil Stanzin Lakpa also met the Tribal affairs Arjun Munda and TRIFED Chairman Ramesh Chand Meena. <br />''<br />''Haji Anayat Ali raised various points related to the newly declared Union Territory of Ladakh regarding Safeguards of the Land Acquisition, job reservation and other issues of the youths of Ladakh UT. <br />''<br />''He also requested that a similar event of National Tribal Festival (Aadi Mohatsav) should be conducted in Kargil also in the month of October – November so that the people of Kargil are equally benefitted from the schemes of Tribal Ministry.</span>
