The two contenders for the French Presidency go head to head today in a TV debate seen as the climax of a long and bitter campaign. <br/><br/>The aim for centrist Emmanuel Macron and his far-right rival Marine Le Pen is to win the votes of large numbers of undecided or reluctant voters. While Mr Macron is well ahead in the polls, his lead has narrowed and an estimated 18 per cent of voters are undecided. <br/><br/>For the first time, neither candidate is from a mainstream French party. <br/><br/>The first round of the 2017 French presidential election was held on the 23rd of last month. As no candidate won a majority, a run-off election between the top two candidates, Emmanuel Macron of En Marche! and Marine Le Pen of the National Front will be held on the 7th of this month.
