LDF walks out of Kerala Assembly today

In Kerala, opposition LDF walked out of the state Assembly today protesting against alleged inaction on the part of the Centre in containing prices of fertilizers. Former agriculture minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran has sought permission for an adjournment motion on the issue. Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan and Ratnakaran alleged that fertilizer companies are given free hand to increase price. Highlighting central initiatives to safeguard the interests of farmers in the country, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that fertilizer price rise should not be seen in isolation. He noted the revival of the agrarian sector and added that more pro-farmer initiatives are likely in the near future. However, least satisfied by the reply entire opposition walked out of the house in protest.
