In Uttar Pradesh, Judicial work was almost paralyzed in the state on Monday due to state wide protest by lawyers who abstained from their legal works in district courts. The lawyers were protesting killing of two of their colleagues in Mohamadi thehsil of Lakhimpur Khiri district on Saturday. The advocates of Allahabad High Court also supported today's protest and many of them abstained from their legal work in support of legal fraternity.Meanwhile, the UP Bar Council has demanded that inquiry should be done either by any state judicial officer or CBCID. The Uttar Pradesh government has already ordered for magisterial inquiry and the inquiry has begun by a Additional District Magistrate of Lakhimpur Khiri. He has been asked to submit the inquiry report within fifteen days. The UP Lekahpal Association has also reiterated their demand fro free and fair inquiry.In view of Mondays protest elaborate security arrangements were made across the state to avoid any untoward incidents. 35 Lekhpal have been arrested in connection with Lakhimpur firing.
