In Uttar Pradesh, lawyers paralysed the functioning of the courts in most of the districts across the state for the third day. Police resorted to lathi-charge at Allahabad as the lawyers resorted to violence to protest against the police lathi charge on their colleagues in the state capital on25th February. Our correspondent reports that in Allahabad Advocates fought pitched battle with the police after they damaged several vehicles and pelted stones near the collectorate. Several people including lawyers, policemen and media persons were injured in the clash. Trouble began when a number of lawyers tried to storm Vikas Bhavan. When the government employees retaliated, the advocates set afire a number of vehicles parked inside and outside the building. Allahabad High court and its Lucknow Bench functioned normally.
