Home Secretary RK Singh today said, lawlessness will not be tolerated and the police will crackdown heavily on offenders to ensure safety to women and the general public. Addressing the media in a joint press conference with Delhi Police Commissioner, he said, the police will seek life sentence for the perpetrators of the gang rape of a 23 old paramedic in a moving bus on last Sunday. He said the charge sheet in the case will be filed soon and the government will request for day to day trail of the gang rape case. Mr Singh said buses with tinted glasses will be impounded and auctioned. The staff of buses, autos and taxies will be verified and strict action will be taken to curb drunken driving and other illegal activities.
The Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said, the charges amounting to attempt to murder under IPC 307 has been added to charge sheet against the accused in the gang rape case. He said swift action of the Delhi Police helped in getting timely medical attention to the victim. He said the Delhi Police has cracked the case in record time and also collected important evidence for pressing the charges.
