The overall situation of the Lower Assam has improved. Day curfew has been lifted in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Dhubri and Barpeta Road. But strict vigil is being maintained to maintain law and order situation. The Police has so far arrested 436 persons for indulging in violence during ethnic clashes and 120 miscreants for their involvement in anti-social activities during Tuesday’s Assam bandh called by the All Assam Minority Students Union. Two lakh 46 thousand people have taken shelter at 219 camps. Verification of land ownership in the violence hit areas is on. The displaced people will be rehabilitated after the verification which is likely to be completed by Thursday. Kokrajhar district administration has already started to set up 12 thousand temporary houses to shelter displaced people of the district.
