The Centre has decided not to pursue Bhopal gas tragedy compensation case in the US courts, observing it was not in interest of the country or victims. Law Minister Veerappa Moily told this to newspersons in New Delhi on Wednesday night. He said that country's courts are competent and capable of resolving the matter. He was responding to a question on the opinion of Attorney General G E Vahanvati that India should not become a party in compensation-related cases in the United States. An estimated 15,000 persons died in the world's worst industrial disaster.
