Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad launches website to facilitate enrollment for Legal Aid

Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today launched a website to facilitate enrollment for both pro-bono lawyering and seekers of legal aid. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Prasad said, access to justice is important for all specially for the poor. He said, UNDP will work as interface for people who want legal aid and those who want to give legal aid. He said, Government has a considered view that lawyers giving legal aid will be considered for elevation. He said, desire to give legal aid must come from empathy and commitment. <br/><br/>He said, Narendra Modi government is working with speed to give justice to people. He said, Ministry will appoint retired judicial officers as Nyaya Mitra to dispose off cases which are more than 10 years old. Mr Prasad said, as a pilot project, Government is beginning Tele Law in rural areas and it will be done in 1800 panchayats in the beginning. <br/><br/>Speaking on Triple Talaq, Mr Prasad said, it is not related to any religion and it is related to Gender Justice. He said, Triple Talaq is regulated and banned in more than 20 Islamic nations. He said, Narendra Modi Govt is standing with the victims of Triple Talaq. Reacting to a media query on BJP leaders facing trail on Ayodhya Babri Masjid case, Mr Prasad said, Party has faith in the innocence of its leaders in the case.
