Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that Human Rights have emerged as a key component of polity and lauded the role of National Human Rights Commission in promoting protection of human rights in the country.<br/><br/>Addressing a function to mark the 23rd Foundation Day function of NHRC in New Delhi, Mr Prasad asked the Human Rights Panel to become a beacon for the emerging countries in protecting human rights. <br/><br/>He said, there is a wider awakening of human rights issues and increasing recognition of the importance of human rights by those who administer, govern and police the country.He urged the NHRC to focus on the rights of HIV people so that they can live with dignity.<br/><br/>Mr Prasad said that terrorism being instigated from across the border is violating the human rights of the people with impunity.<br/><br/>Earlier in his address, NHRC Chairperson Justice H L Dattu said the surge in number of complaints of human rights violation indicates the growing awareness among the people.<br/><br/>He said, of the one lakh 52 thousand complaints registered, one lakh 24 thousand have been disposed off.
