Laurels and rewards continue to pour on the victorious Indian cricket team that won the 2011 World cup last night defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets. Dhoni who played a captains innings in the final had finsihed in style hauling a huge Sixer over the fence.BCCI has announced one crore rupees each for the players and 50 lakhs each for the supporting staff and twenty five lakhs for every selector. The Delhi government has announced a cash reward of two crore rupees for the captain and one crore rupee each for Delhi players who were part of the Indian squad.Air India decided to promote M.S. Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina. The Jharkhand government has decided to confer Jharkhand Ratan on the captain M.S. Dhoni. It has also decided to set up a cricket academy under Dhoni's guidance. The Railway Ministry announced lifetime 1st AC Complementary Passes to the members of the winning Indian team. The passes will be available to players along with one companion for unlimited free travel.Punjab has announced one crore rupees cash awards each to Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh for their sterling performance. Captain M.S.Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar and the team were also felicitated for their outstanding show.The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil who watched the final in Mumbai alongwith Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksha, hosted a tea party today in honour of the victorious team. Maharashra Chief Minister and State Governor were also present on the occasion.AIR correspondent reports from Mumbai that emotional scenes were witnessed in the city after grand finale. The night sky over Wankhede stadium lit up with breathtaking fireworks as Indians took another lap of honour holding the trophy as the crowd continuously cheered them. Almost in every part of the city, people came out of their homes to celebrate the moment of glory together.Reports of celebrations have come in from other parts of the country and abroad. The President, the Vice President and the Prime Minister besides several Union Ministers and political dignitaries have congratulated the team for their outstanding performance.The US Ambassador to India, Timothy J Roemer congratulated Team India on behalf of the people of the United States. He said the people and the government of India could take pride in successfully hosting the cup, displaying great statemanship and leadership through sports diplomacy.Gujarat Government announced its highest sports honour Eklavya Award for Yousuf Pathan and Munaf Patel. The award carries one lakh ruppees and a citation.
