Last rites of Col S Mahadik performed with full military honours in M'shtra

Last rites of Col S Mahadik who was martyred in a gun battle in Kupwara district on Tuesday, were performed today with full military honours including 21 gun salute in his Native Village Pogarwadi in Satara District of Maharashtra. His body was brought to Lohagaon Air Force Station Pune last evening. <br/><br/>From there it was taken to National War Memorial, Pune in Camp area. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and senior Army Officers including Chief of Southern Command Lt. Gen Ashok Singh and others paid homage to him.<br/><br/> From Pune, the body was flown to Satara last night by an Army helicopter for the last rites. Before being brought to Pogarwadi, the body of Col. Mahadik was kept at his Maternal Home in Village Aregare where Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar paid homage to the departed soul. Hundreds of villagers gathered to bid final farewell to this brave son of soil.
