Last rites of Arjun Singh to be performed in MP

The last rites of the veteran Congress leader Arjun Singh who passed away in New Delhi on Friday will be performed at Churhat in Madhya Pradesh today with full state honours. His body was taken to his home town Churhat from New Delhi yesterday. On way at Allahabad, a large number of people, including congressmen paid their last respects to the departed leader at Bamrauli airport in Uttar Pradesh. The Madhya Pradesh Governor Rameshwar Thakur, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, several Union Ministers and senior Congress leaders are expected to attend the funeral. The State Government had announced a three-day state mourning as a mark of respect to the departed leader. All government offices and schools remained closed in Madhya Pradesh yesterday as the state government had declared a public holiday.
