The last rites of eminent Marathi poet Prof. Manik Godghate alias Grace will be performed with full state honours in Nagpur today. He breathed his last at a private hospital in Pune yesterday after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 74. Known for his trend setting poetry which depicted pathos in human life with a mystical element, Godghate who wrote with pen name Grace, won many awards for his literature that also included collections of free flowing individualistic articles. He was honoured with the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award recently for his book 'Varyane halte raan'.Acclaimed for his experimentation with poetic form, Grace was considered a path breaking Marathi poet of contemporary literature. His famous collections of poems included 'Sandhyakalchya Kavita', 'Rajputra and Darling', 'Sanjbhayachay Saajani' and 'Chandramadhaviche Pradesh”. -2The other works of Grace in prose form included 'Churchbell', 'Mitva', ‘Mrugjalache Bandhkam’, ‘Kawale Udale Swami’ and ‘Sandhymagna Purushanchi Lakshane’
