In West Bengal, day is the last day for filing of nominations for the assembly by-elections in Bhabanipur and Basiarhat Uttar constituencies. The scrutiny of nomination will take place on Tuesday. The last day for withdrawal of candidature is on Thursday. AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has filed nomination from Bhavanipur constituency as a Trinamul Congress nominee while Nandini Mukherjee is contesting from the seat as CPI(M) candidate. Subid Ali Gaji of CPI(M) and TMT Abdullah of Trinamul Congress are fighting from Basiarhat Uttar constituency. Both the seats had fallen vacant following death of Mustafa bin Kasim of CPI(M) and resignation of state minister Shubroto Bakshi of Trinamul Congress from the state assembly.
