Last date for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana for the kharif season has been extended by eight days. <br/><br/>The due date had expired yesterday. Agriculture Ministry said, the Ministry has received a number of requests from various States for extension of cut-off date on account of various reasons including delay in carrying out the requisite preliminaries and consequential delay in notification. <br/><br/>It said, this is a one-time extension only and should not to be quoted as precedent in future. The Ministry said, state government may consider taking appropriate action regarding extension of cut-off date accordingly. <br/><br/>Government has launched the scheme from this kharif season and farmers will have to pay very less premium on it. The premium is 2 per cent for foodgrains, oilseeds and pulses for Kharif crops and 1.5 per cent for Rabi crops.
