In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces achieved a major success when they gunned down a self-styled Divisional Commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit in Surankote area of Poonch district. According to defence sources, acting on a specific information about the presence of terrorist, security forces launched search operations in Doba Dhok forest area. However, the hiding ultras opened fire on the troops who retaliated and in the ensuing encounter which continued for over one hour, troops claimed to have shot dead two terrorists. However, according to Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, Mr. Ashkoor Wani, body of only one slain ultra has been recovered from the encounter site and efforts are on to trace out the body of the other terrorist. The slain ultra whose body has been recovered is identified as Abu Usman, alias Adnan Divisional Commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit . A Pakistani national Adnan was active in the Poonch district for the last 5-6 years. Further details are awaited.
