The largest play ground of the north east region was inaugurated yesterday at Purul Attupa in Senapati District of Manipur. GOC Red Shield Division Maj Gen KK Sinha inaugurated the ground amidst huge gathering of village authorities, local people and dignitaries. To nurture the abundant potential of the people of this region in sports, the Red Shield Division, has created this large play ground at Purul with multiple sports facility.The 107 Engineer Regiment, alongwith 5 Assam Rifles, assisted by the active interest and assistance of Dr Alexander Pao, MLA Karong Constituency and local people toiled hard to ensure that the playground is ready before the onset of monsoons.The General Officer, in his address to the people emphasised on the importance of sports and the qualitiesit imbibes in younger generation ensuring an all round development in their personality. He added that Manipur has immense potential that must be nurtured and put forth, both in the national and international arena, so as to bring glory to the nation.
