With the Enumeration of the first citizen of the country President Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil the largest demographic exercise in the history of mankind, Census-2011 took of today.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Patil appealed to the people of the nation to come forward in a big way and register their name for creation of the National Population Register. She said that this will help the people and the country. <br/><br/>The Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram who was present on the occasion said that Census team will reach every nook and corner of India and no one will be left out. <br/><br/>The Census 2011 will mark a milestone, as it will create a comprehensive data base of all the residents of the country. For the first time ever the Census will measure the usage of mobile phones, Computers, reach of Internet and banking services. Amenities like availability of potable water and other basic amenities the house hold possesses will be the crucial part of the house listing process of the first phase of census which will be conducted between April to September this year. The second phase of the operation will involve population enumeration which will be carried out between 9th and 28th of February next year. 25 lakh personnel are being engaged in the mammoth exercise.
