In Darjeeling, clashes broke out between protesters and security forces following raids at Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, GJM, leader Bimal Gurung's house and GJM office.<br/><br/>A large cache of arms and explosives were seized during the raid at Gurung's house at Patlebus area of the hill city today.<br/><br/>A school and hostel situated near Gurung's residence were also raided. Raids were also conducted in other parts of the district.<br/><br/>A GJM leader, Karuna Gurung has also been arrested from Kurseong.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that situation turned violent following the raids as agitators started pelting stones and set police vans on fire. Police resorted to lathi charge and tear gas.<br/><br/>Amid escalating tension in the hills, GJM has called for an indefinite shutdown in protest against the police raid at their office.
