Laptops for first division High School students in Assam

The Assam Government has announced to give laptops to the students securing first division in the High School, High Madrassa and Madrassa Board examinations from the coming year. <br/><br/>Distributing computers to the meritorious students at the Anundoram Borooah Award ceremony at Guwahati, the Chief Minister, Mr Tarun Gogoi said, that the State government is focusing on providing the best possible education tools to the students and laptops would be the latest addition of the list.<br/><br/>The additional cost of laptops would be borne by the State government. The award was instituted at the cost 25 crore rupees which has now gone up to 34 crores.This year a total of 17,362 students securing first division in the examinations received the award .<br/><br/>Mr Gogoi termed the Anundoram Awards as one of the biggest achievements of his government and added that the award which was instituted in the year 2005 has provided impetus to the students to do well in their examinations.<br/><br/>Health Minister Mr Himanta Biswa Sarma while speaking on the occasion said that Assam is the only State in the country distributing computers among students at such large scale.<br/>
