Lankans go to polls tomorrow

<br/>Sri Lankans go to the polls tomorrow to elect a new Parliament. The Election Secretariat says that all measures have been finalized to ensure a free and fair poll. Seven thousand six hundred and twenty candidates from 36 political parties and 301 independent groups are in the fray for 196 seats. In addition 29 members will be elected by the national list. Polling will begin at 7 a. m and end at 4.00 p.m. IGP Mahinda Balasooriya said over 58 thousand police cadres and 19,500 army personnel will be deployed to ensure security island wide tomorrow. Sixteen foreign observers have already arrived in the island to monitor the election.
