The Sri Lankan President on Tuesday arrived in Beijing for a four day visit to China . During his stay in Beijing and Shenzhen, President Rajapaksa will hold bilateral meetings with the Chinese President Hu Jintao and the Prime Minister Wen Jiabao. He will also attend the opening ceremony of the Universiade in Shenzhen. According to reports, ahead of the UN Human Rights Council meeting next month, the Sri Lankan President will make use of this visit to counter allegations made in the Channel 4 video that the military was involved in atrocities during the final stages of the war in the north. Trade and investment talks with the Chinese government are also on the card.
