Lankan PM expects 2 to 3 bn US dollar investment in country

Sri Lankan PM Ranil Wicremsinghe has said that he expects two to three billion US dollar investment in his country during the year. Unveiling the economic vision for the country for next three years in Colombo today, Mr. Wickremsinghe said that Sri Lanka along with its south Asian neighbors account for a 4 trillion US dollar market. He said that the proposed Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) with India and free trade agreements with China and Singapore will give his country access to huge markets in these countries. <br/><br/>Mr. Wicremsinghe asserted that Sri Lanka can take advantage of its position in Indian Ocean region by positioning itself as a centre for communication, transport, logistics and business enterprise. <br/><br/>The Sri Lankan PM accepted that India is playing a vital role in its development by training people and providing administrative support. Mr. Wicremsinghe rejected charges of political stability in the country saying that two major parties have come together to form a national government. He said that in a coalition, certain differences will remain and should not be worried for.
