Sri Lankan Navy has released 18 Tamil Nadu fishermen who were detained while fishing near Kachatheevu yesterday. The fishermen had allegedly crossed the international maritime boundary line while fishing and were confronted by Sri Lankan Navy. <br/><br/>Fishermen from Tamil Nadu are urging the release of five fellow fishermen lodged in Sri Lankan jail before Diwali festival. They urge the central government to take steps to secure the immediate release of 115 fishing boats detained by Sri Lanka. The local fishermen say that fishing boats are getting damaged without any protection. <br/><br/>The fishermen say that their livelihood is badly affected as Sri Lanka is detaining fishing boats as deterrent measure. However fishermen are relieved that Sri Lankan Navy and spared the country boat fishermen after being detained yesterday.
