The Sri Lankan Government has decided to lift the restrictions imposed on civilian travel on the A9 Road from tomorrow enabling citizens to travel freely to and from Jaffna and other parts of the country. A 9 is the only land route connecting Jaffna peninsula to the rest of the country. <br/><br/>Earlier, the A9 Road was opened for the public in November 2009 enabling the transport of goods to and from Jaffna and travel was allowed on a special permits issued by the Ministry of Defence, Law and Order. With improvements in newly liberated areas the Government later relaxed the restrictions imposed on civilians.<br/>
