Facing acute shortage of resources, Sri Lankan government on Tuesday appealed to the general public to assist over 850,000 flood victims, even as 13 people have been killed in the catastrophe. Flood victims are in dire need of drinking water, mats, bed sheets, clothing and milk food for children.Sri Lankan Minister of Health Maithripala Sirisena said that the unexpected climatic change has made thousands of people displaced. He said, this is the time we need the assistance of the people to help victims.The country's disaster management centre said that continuous rain and bad weather conditions in many parts of the country have claimed at least 13 lives and affected 228,000 families.It said that 127,000 persons have been located in 351 temporary camps where they are being supplied with relief. Sri Lankan army, navy and air force is assisting in the rescue and relief operations.
