In Sri Lanka, the Manik Farm camps, where thousands of war displaced Tamil civilians are still housed have been declared open camps from today by the Government. This will allow the civilians being allowed free movement within and outside the camp. Speaking to AIR Colombo Correspondent, the Officer in Charge of the Camp, Major General Kamal Gunaratne said that there are 1,22000 IDPs left in the camp. He said, the de- mining activity also, is progressing at a very good speed. The Sri Lankan Government had earlier announced that the restrictions on the movement will be eased by today.
