Lanka urges UN Secretary General to have faith in Reconciliation Commission

In a meeting with UN Secretary General Ban ki Moon and other officials , Sri Lankan Foreign Minister urged them to have faith in theReconciliation Commission set up by the government and not to pre judge its possible out comes.<br/><br/>Similar mechanisms , he said had been found useful in other post conflict situations and noted that the ground situation has changed substantially in the island nation making any outside intervention or the appointment of an extraneous panel unnecessary.<br/><br/>The top diplomat from Sri Lanka explained measures taken to realize the reconciliation goals and assured that the Rajapaksa regime has been actively reaching out to the minorities.<br/><br/>To the business community, he said that the climate was right in the country for investment and urged American companies to participate fully in the infrastructural development of Sri Lanka.<br/><br/>Clinton's spokesman Philip Crowley last month had urged Colombo to use its ‘significant’ mandate to pursue a "healing process" Sri Lankan Foreign Minister is also scheduled to meet Hillary Clinton later this week to discuss matters in post war Sri Lanka.<br/><br/>In another development, Sri Lankan Government has said that war displaced Tamil civilians will be resettled within three months and all welfare centres in the North will be closed.
