Sri Lankan government says it is in the process of handing over 110 kilograms of gold, that its troop recovered from the former LTTE controlled areas to the Central Bank. Chief government whip Dinesh Gunawardena told parliament that its security forces had collected the precious metal during the final months of the decades-long civil war which ended in May last year. He said the value of the jewellery is about 4.4 million dollars.
