To mark the of completion of the 50 years of the bilateral relations with Philippines, Sri Lankan government is to donate a baby elephant from Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage to the Manila Zoo.Sri Lankan Embassy in Philippines has organized a series of events to mark the celebration to be held in Manila on the 3rd week of September 2011.A photographic and Trade exhibition followed by religious programs will be held for a week commencing September 22. The foreign ministers of both the countries are expected to meet in Manila for a discussion to coincide of this event.The Sri Lankan Cabinet on a proposal made by Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne granted approval to donate a baby elephant from the Sri Lanka’s Elephant Orphanage to the Manila Zoo to mark the occasion of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Philippines.
